More than 2,000 students from 222 primary schools showed off their skills at a competition aimed at promoting sport among young people in Hong Kong.

The Inter-school Easy Sport Competition, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Education and Manpower Bureau, was held at Shekkipmei Park last Saturday.

It featured 14 events, including handball, table-tennis, basketball and cricket.

'It was a fun sports day,' said Jonis Wong, a spokeswoman for LCSD. 'Some students were very competitive, while the others just enjoyed the sports.'

Fourty-one top-performing athletes were appointed School Sports Ambassadors at a ceremony later in the day. 'It was great to see so many students displaying their skills in these events,' Ms Wong said.
