Hong Kong information technology talent is well positioned to benefit from Oracle's double-digit growth in China following the restructuring of the industry model and aggressively expanding business development.
'After the restructuring, our industry model mainly focuses on six industries: banking and finance, government, transport and travel, discrete manufacturing and process manufacturing,' said Seria Lam, senior HR director of Oracle Greater China.
'Our new industry model means more industry experts will be joining, while business growth will create more employment opportunities in multiple fields, including pre-sales, consultants, direct sales, channel management, frontline staff, back-end support, marketing positions and human resources.'
Last year the enterprise software giant's mainland operation expanded its staff numbers by about 50 per cent, or more than 200 positions. It is looking for a similar degree of expansion in the financial year 2004/05.
The company established its second China development centre in Beijing in November, in addition to the research and development centre opened in Shenzhen in June 2002.
Apart from experienced technical staff, Oracle would also 'hire lots of new graduates to be trained as developers', Ms Lam said.
