Sport: Tennis

Statistics:  The 14-year-old earned her first   International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior world ranking points  with a string of very encouraging results on the World Junior Circuit, which included a pair of quarter-final showings in Thailand and Jordan. She is the only active female player     in Hong Kong to hold a junior world ranking. She won the 2004 AIA National Championship last month  and will compete in the Junior Federation Cup in Thailand starting today.

Soundbite: 'It feels good to win and it builds my confidence. When I play matches, it's challenging, but I go out to challenge my opponent, too.'

Academic performance: Venise earned As in chemistry, Chinese history, physical education, biology and physics.

Interests: She  reads detective stories, listens to hip-hop   and does jazz and hip-hop dance. She also plays   the piano.

From her coach: 'Kids really need to be able to juggle between school and athletics,' said Stan Tamura, who will captain the Hong Kong team  in the Junior Federation Cup in Thailand. 'For them to excel, they really need to be determined and Venise is a person who does that very well.'

Ambitions: Venise will begin looking at universities after the HKCEE.  She would like to continue to play tennis.
