Hong Kong Ballet's 72 members are in high spirits as they embark on a North American tour today. As part of the government's 'Relaunch Hong Kong' campaign, the group will perform Legend of the Great Archer and The Last Emperor in Toronto, Vancouver, San Jose and Washington during their 22-day tour. Legend of the Great Archer is the first original, full-length ballet with Chinese music. The Last Emperor is the company's signature piece to celebrate Hong Kong's handover to China in July, 1997. Apart from the stage performances, members will conduct master classes and open rehearsals for ballet students and non-profit making organisations in the four cities.
