School of rock

English Schools Foundations rivalries were forgotten last weekend as these seven teachers swapped notes - musical ones. Although they are hard-working ESF professionals by day, at night they become members of the popular rock group Dirty Sanchez, and are pictured warming up for a gig at Carnegies bar in Wanchai.

The band's roots go back to King George V's spring fair in 2001, but the current line-up dates from late 2002 when Island School's Paul Adams joined his sister Louise, from KGV, on vocals. 'We're happy to perform as unofficial ambassadors for harmony between traditionally rival schools within the ESF,' said guitarist Michael Pritchard, also from KGV.

The band, which plays a wide range of pop classics from the '60s to the present, says it aims to give something back to the Hong Kong community by supporting charity fund-raising events.

You can see Dirty Sanchez in action at Battle of the Bands (in aid of the Children's Cancer Foundation) on May 25, and Wanchai Live IX on June 6. Both gigs are at Carnegies, ([email protected]).
