Valencia close in on Spanish title
League leaders Valencia could clinch their second Spanish title in three years if results go their way this weekend.
Real Madrid and Barcelona both need to drop points today while the UEFA Cup finalists have to win at Sevilla tomorrow for them to become the champions with two games to spare.
'It may not happen this weekend, or even next week, but I am feeling optimistic,' said Valencia coach Rafa Benitez with his team four points clear at the top of the table.
However, Sevilla are not in the mood to be accommodating to Valencia. The Andalusian hosts have ambitions of their own as they are seventh and still in contention for a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
'This is going to be a dog-eat-dog battle. Both teams are very intense and will be wanting to put their stamp on this game,' warned Sevilla captain Pablo Alfaro.
