Hong Kong won the team competition at the CSIO International Showjumping Competition at Beas River Country Club in Sheung Shui thanks to excellent performances by Jennifer Chang, Jennifer Lee and Pedja Marjanovic yesterday.
The SAR team won the team competition for the second time in two years after last year's event was cancelled because of SARS.
Hong Kong have always produced good results in this tourney and this year was no exception as they beat China with 18 faults compared to China's 59 faults. South Korea were third on 66 faults, while Taiwan were fourth on 69 faults.
Chang on Capital Star got the ball rolling with a good display and there were more creditable performances from Lee on Tom and Marjanovic riding Majullah Superstar.
The event was in danger of being postponed because of yesterday's rainstorm but fortunately the weather cleared and the track dried.
'This morning it was absolutely terrible but the water drained and by the time the event started at 3pm, conditions were almost perfect,' said Edwin McAuley, president of the grand jury.
