A true music lover would say 'yes'. We often fall in love with a few songs of a particular singer, but not all of them. Downloading music gives us the freedom to choose the songs we like instead of buying the whole CD, which is often a total waste of money.
Now, does downloading music ruin a singer's business? I say 'no', especially in Hong Kong. Idol worshipping is a huge phenomenon here, that's why there are so many new faces being introduced to the music market.
Fans not only love their idols' songs, but also their faces and personalities. These die-hards will buy their CDs because they come with little gifts and gimmicks that make them feel connected to their idols.
Also, managers and music companies often change a CD's packaging several times, while the songs are actually the same - another marketing gimmick. This could explain why Twins always make it onto the charts, even though many people download their songs every day.
