Hunghom youths vented angst in repeated beatings of older neighbour who they saw as easy prey
Two youths who subjected their older neighbour to systematic beatings to vent their anger were jailed for life yesterday for his murder. A third youth received a 25-year sentence.
Lee Kwan-kong, 21, and Mach Sindy, 22, each received a mandatory life sentence for the murder of Yung Cho-hing, 42, at the Court of First Instance.
Lam Wai-kit, 18, was jailed for 25 years as he was under the age of 18 at the time of the murder. The victim had more than 70 bruises over his body and multiple rib fractures.
Police found Yung's body in a back lane in Hunghom and were able to trace the victim's identity and home address after his killers left his house key in his pocket.
The three were also charged along with two accomplices - Jessica Li Wai-yan, 23, and Leung Pui-ki, 21 - with conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice, relating to their attempt to dispose of the body. Mrs Justice Verina Bokhary delivered the following sentences on the conspiracy charges: Lee, three years and four months; Mach, three years; Lam, two years, eight months; Li, four years; Leung, two years and three months.
