Watchmakers and fashion houses worldwide are adding colour to their ranges, from straps to dials, and using a much wider selection of materials

EVERY BRAND WORTH its name has an all-white creation amid its colourful range this year. Bulgari has a B.zero1 in white mother-of-pearl dial and white calf leather strap with the options of clear diamonds or dark gemstones on the bezel.

Harry Winston mixes expensive diamonds on the watch case and inexpensive white rubber in the strap of its Premier Chronograph.

Omega's Aquarella collection uses a fully paved stainless-steel case with white crocodile strap, and choices of coloured stones in the inner ring of the bezel for those who desire a splash of colour.

Movado Museum Automatic strays from its 'black dial with a dot' trademark look, using a white dial for a change with a white crocodile leather strap. Versace's Hyppodrome line, characterised by the horizontal tonneau shape, has a white version among the richly coloured group of four.

White seems to be the only common thread for all the fashion watches this year. Otherwise the brands vary in their choice of palette. Patek Philippe offers a subdued earthy tone for its feminine Twenty-4 collection. The series also stands out with its smooth-as-silk satin strap, said to be snag and stain resistant. Fashion houses opt for brighter colours to make watches a more prominent fashion statement.
