Chun Wo Construction and Engineering, which spends more than $1 million each year on in-house and specialised staff training, is recruiting enthusiastic graduates keen to carve a career in the construction industry.
Each year the company invites outstanding graduates to apply for its elite training programme. It is a rigorous training scheme designed to provide young engineers with the opportunities to experience all aspects of construction, from design to management. Engineering graduates with outstanding academic records are eligible.
Edward KY Yeung, a Chun Wo director, said the goal was to develop young engineers to become future leaders in the company. The two-phase tailored training scheme lasts four to five years.
Successful candidates work in all aspects of construction through job rotation and are encouraged to develop an area of interest.
Trainees receive one-on-one mentoring from experienced Chun Wo staff. They must also meet the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers' scheme-A training requirements and professional examinations.
Each year 36 graduates are recruited into its engineering graduate scheme, and are split into three categories: 12 civil, 12 building and 12 electrical and engineering graduates. Elite trainees receive a starting salary of $13,000, while engineering graduate trainees receive $10,000.
