IN the continuing trend of cricket shamelessly borrowing from the soccer terraces (a subject that is the cause of much spluttering of G&Ts at Lord's) we now have the Mexican Wave especially adapted for next weekend's Cathay Pacific Wharf Holdings International Sixes.
Feeble though it may look as modelled in our picture, the Hard Hitting Wave (as it is being termed) will hopefully reverberate around the ground every time the ball is whacked over the ropes - with fans jumping up and waving the specially provided Six Card which also comes with the Chinese character for good measure.
Apart from serving the purpose of making waves, we can think of other uses for the card.
It can provide protection should any of the leather missiles belted from the middle come hurtling towards one's head, and if you survive, it could be turned upside down to signal the number of beers you need to recover from the shock.
Incidentally, tickets for the two-day cricket-fest, starting on Friday, are still available.
