LEADING members of the American Congress, overseas dissidents and Hong Kong politicians will gather at Princeton University, New Jersey, next month to discuss the 1997 changeover and China's development.
Entitled Hong Kong and Greater China, the two-day symposium beginning on October 23 will be hosted by a workshop of the university, which some leading overseas dissidents have joined.
Among Hong Kong participants will be pro-democracy legislators Szeto Wah, Emily Lau Wai-hing and Christine Loh Kung-wai.
It is understood that Ronald Arculli, a leading member of the Liberal Party has also been invited.
An invitation has also been sent to Cheng Kai-nam, a leader of the pro-China Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong. Mr Cheng said he might not be able to go because of a clash with another engagement.
Sources said the former chief of Xinhua (the New China News Agency) Xu Jiatun, who fled to the US after the June 4 Beijing crackdown, would attend.
