Brown in Happy Valley is holding a dinner on Thursday featuring the award-winning wines of Beresford Estate in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. The dinner will be hosted by Beresford Estate owner and chief winemaker Robert Dundon. The four-course dinner includes Old Bay salmon cakes with dill creme fraiche and mixed greens, paired with the winery's Crooked Road Riesling 2000, and a choice for main course of tournedos Rossini or braised lamb shank with parsnip mash and red wine reduction, served with the Beresford Belleville Estate Cabernet Merlot 1999 and the Beresford Belleville Shiraz 1997. Jean-Georges Vongerichten is paying a visit to his namesake restaurant, Vong, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel from June 8-11. The chef, who is based in New York but also has restaurants in Las Vegas, Chicago, Houston, Paris and Shanghai, will introduce some new dishes to the menu. The master chef is also teaching cooking classes on June 9 and 10, which are limited to six students per session. Each class is $1,500 plus 10 per cent and includes lunch at Vong. Tel: 2825 4028
Imasa Japanese restaurant at The Peninsula hotel is once again serving its unlimited family set dinner from Wednesday to Friday. Guests can choose from five types of sashimi and hand rolls and a variety of appetisers and hot dishes. The dinner also includes 60 grams of sea urchin sashimi for every two guests.
