Bottoms Up toasts its new location in Wan Chai

Some Hong Kong traditions never die, they just pick up and move across the harbour to Wan Chai. Such is the case with the venerable Bottoms Up bar, which shuttered its Tsim Sha Tsui premises (pictured) at the end of last month and is set to throw its opening party in its new location on Lockhart Road tonight.

Bottoms Up's biggest claim to fame was the fact that it was featured in the 1974 James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun, which was probably the silliest of all the Bond flicks.

The bar's owners said they decided to move because of declining business at their old location. But a glance at the party's invitation shows they've tried to keep the magic alive by covering the place in red velvet and decking it out in plush leather booths. Guests at tonight's party will be treated to an open bar from 6 to 10pm.
