Brothel-goers may be unwitting porn stars, police warn

Pinhole surveillance cameras have been found hidden in a Mongkok brothel, prompting police to warn customers that their activities might be filmed for illicit sex movies.

Two cameras were found during a police raid on Thursday night on a Nathan Road flat used as a brothel.

'The cameras facing the bed were found wired to a video recorder and television placed in a living room and controlled by its keeper. Customers' activities could be recorded on videotapes,' Mongkok District Chief Inspector Cheung Kin-kwong said.

The legality of the cameras - hidden in the ceiling of two rooms - is still unresolved. Officers did not find any sex footage.

'We believe such spying was set up recently because the cameras and wiring were quite new.'

Mr Cheung said two officers posing as clients visited the brothel. There were two customers in the rooms with the cameras. The video recorder was switched off at the time.
