DIGITAL Equipment has been awarded an A$30-million contract from the Queensland Electricity Commission (QEC) in Australia, to re-engineer its information systems.
As the prime contractor leading a consortium of local suppliers, Digital will provide products as well as integration and consulting services throughout the organisation.
This is the largest computer systems' contract ever awarded in Queensland.
Hardware and packaged software accounted for about a third of the contract fee, with the balance devoted to consulting and systems'integration services.
The contract is renewable for an additional five years.
Digital will install 32 Alpha AXP computer systems and 1,100 PCs at 11 sites over the first 21 months of the five-year contract.
