Our school's English Carnival, held from May 3 to 7, started with the loud burst of balloons (pictured below).

Hundreds of balloons fell from the sky bringing good fortune to students. Why good fortune?

There was a gift tag inside each balloon - students would get what was written on the tag  (lollipop, marshmallows, etc).

What a practical way to learn vocabulary!

The carnival provided a wide range of activities: tongue twisters, Speak More Eat More, a calligraphy contest, Paper Chase, a comic strip competition, a poster design competition and a drama competition.

Students participated  enthusiastically in all events and did their best in the competitions.

As a sequel to this successful carnival, our school has decided to hold a fun day and a drama course after the final exams next month.

There will be games and activities to  brush up students' English  skills.

English Club, Lingnan Secondary School (Heng Fa Chuen) On May 12, I took part in Adventure Base Counselling and learnt a lot through various challenging activities, such as 'touching a bell on the ceiling' and 'trust fall'.

Can you imagine  trying to touch a bell which is almost five metres above the ground without a ladder or anything?

We did it. All of us did it.

At first, we thought that it was impossible,  but we kept  trying.  Then, we found a way to do it.

A girl was raised by two of us holding  each other's hands. The rest of us supported her.

I was very afraid when I was raised, but my classmates supported and comforted me.

When I was a supporter, I tried my best to help my classmates touch the target safely.

I had a sense of satisfaction when  my classmates touched the bell.

Although my whole body was sore after the  camp, it was worth it.

We learnt about team spirit and developed problem-solving skills.

We now understand and trust each other more than before.

Our Lady of the Rosary College

It is every football fan's dream to  meet famous football stars, or even an opportunity to take part in a match with them.

On May 7, our dream came true.

As part of the celebrations of  Liu Po Shan Memorial College's 20th anniversary, alumnus  Yau Kin-wai,  one of the best  football players in Hong Kong, was invited to our school to demonstrate his skills.

Students were  inspired by his speech  about his road to success. We were impressed by his dedication to self-improvement.

Although Yau was injured in a previous practice session,   he still played referee for us in a football match between teachers and students.   The  match was an exciting one. We never expected the teachers to be so sporty and energetic.

The match ended in a tie, with  thunderous applause from the audience.

A black rainstorm on May 8 put off celebrations of  Kowloon True Light Middle School's 132nd anniversary until May 11.

Guests, teachers and students assembled in the school hall. One of the honourable guests, Reverend Chu Wood-ping, delivered his speech vividly by incorporating a few magic tricks.

Alumnus Mak Kit-yiu, principal of Conservative Baptist Lui Ming Choi Primary School, shared her interesting and exciting campus life with us.

The principal and some guests were then invited to bang on a gong  to open the project work exhibition (pictured above).

Project learning has been a major theme  this year, aimed at sharpening our problem-solving skills, creativity, critical thinking and analytical skills.

Celebrations ended at lunch time.

Although we had to return to class,  we had a wonderful time sharing our knowledge and celebrating our school's great traditions with visitors.
