Police yesterday arrested 10 people over illegal online bidding for tickets to Sam Hui Koon-kit's comeback concerts through auction websites.

Officers said it was the first time that they had made arrests in connection with such online auction activities.

A complaint filed two weeks ago prompted an investigation by the Technology Crime Division of the Commercial Crime Bureau, which led to the arrests.

About 10 tickets for next month's concerts by the popular Canto-pop singer had been sold through dishonest biddings in four different auction websites, sources said.

'The ticket holders are suspected to have pushed up the prices of concert tickets by making false bids against genuine bidders. Profits they made are several times higher than the original prices,' a police source said.

Investigations revealed that a $380 ticket was sold at $2,000 in one of the deals and another bidder spent $600 to buy a $100 ticket, according to the source.
