Research associate Stephen Kong demonstrates new hi-tech googles that allow students at Polytechnic University's Building and Real Estate Department to see 3-D images of their construction projects. 'Previously, lecturers found it difficult to teach students about construction. We used bar charts which students found difficult to understand,' said department head Professor Heng Li.
Students can now also work out the maintenance and product life cycle of a building by computer, he added: 'This can help prevent accidents because unlike human beings, computers do not make mistakes.
'It used to be the case that investors could do nothing if they were unhappy with the outcome of a project. But now, they can try it in the computer before they make any orders.'
