Bank of Communications has appointed a new chairman and president before a possible listing in Shanghai and Hong Kong later this year. The appointments were announced internally to senior officials at the Shanghai-based lender yesterday, according to bank sources. The reshuffle will see Jiang Chaoliang replacing Yin Jieyan as chairman, while deputy bank president Zhang Jianguo will take over from Fang Chengguo as president. Mr Jiang also serves as a deputy governor of Hubei province, and has spent 20 years in banking. He also held senior positions with the People's Bank of China from 1996 to 2002. Mr Zhang, 49, has 23 years of banking experience and joined the Bank of Communications about two years ago. He oversees the lender's international businesses. He was previously based in Beijing as assistant to the president at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.
