End an essay with afterthought

No matter which method (there were four as mentioned last time) you use to wrap up your essay, a sensible afterthought always works wonders. To many of you, however, it is not easy to come up with a good and relevant afterthought. You are advised to read more newspapers in order to have your own afterthoughts for different subjects.

Let's see how appealing a good afterthought can make a conclusion.

Sample 1 on World Peace:

Young people hold the key to the future. The key can open a door to world peace. If young people are determined to have peace, it is neither far nor near nor nowhere. It is now and here.

Sample 2 on Opportunities to Use English Outside School:

Unlike other Asian countries such as Japan and Korea, Hong Kong attaches great importance to English learning due to its colonial background and its international platform. Therefore, Hong Kong students are very fortunate as we have plenty of opportunities to practise English outside school. The only question left is whether we are smart enough to make full use of the opportunities given or be so foolish as to let them slip away.

Sample 3 on Lack of Enthusiasm Towards Reading:

All theories say the earlier a student makes it a habit to read extensively, the better. Furthermore, to make reading fruitful, students should not only read extensively but also attach importance to the quality of what they read. Parents and teachers have a crucial role to play in helping pupils to become interested in reading, choose what to read, and read effectively. Unless we take effective steps, the problem will not become less serious, still less disappear.

Sample 4 on Money Generation:

Why is money so central to Hong Kong's youth and society? One explanation is Hong Kong is at the forefront of globalisation and commercialisation - under today's capitalist system, everything is for sale. The idealism of youth seems to be dying fast in the face of materialism in 21st century Hong Kong.
