Football fans will get much more than just commentary and action replays with Cable TV's colourful coverage of the European Championships. Programme hosts will wear bright shirts and other trendy attire in keeping with the 'Euro A-Go-Go' theme which will run alongside the main soccer content of the nightly shows.
The tournament kicks off on June 12 when hosts Portugal take on underdogs Greece. The final will be held in Lisbon on July 4. All 31 matches will be broadcast live, with full English commentary available via Nicam.
Cable TV plans to invite 150 soccer fans every night to watch the matches in its studio. Eleven 'Euro Babes' will participate in 'Euro A-Go-Go' - a nostalgic game show created by award-winning film director Pang Ho-cheung.
Host Simon Yam Tat-wah said he would use Chinese idioms to summarise the soccer action and make references to Chinese literature characters to lighten
things up.
ATV has rights to broadcast delayed coverage of the final and four other games and will air 15-minute highlights on match days, as well as a weekly one-hour feature throughout the tournament.
