The Hong Kong national team are psyched up to cause an upset in Wednesday's FIFA World Cup qualifier away to Kuwait.

'They have a couple of key players banned because of a big fight they got into when playing for their clubs during the AFC Cup - this gives us encouragement to get a result,' said the Hong Kong team's technical officer Tsang Wai-chung.

Hong Kong have never beaten the wealthy Middle-Eastern nation in a competitive match, and a win or draw this week would be an impressive result.

Like Hong Kong, Kuwait have beaten Malaysia (2-0) and lost by a single goal to China in their two 2006 World Cup qualifiers so far.

'A draw would be good for us. Even though we lost our last game to China, we can still qualify for the next round,' Tsang said.

'We'll play safety first and start defensively. We don't know too much about the Kuwaiti team, but our players are very fit and confident, and there is good morale. We're looking forward to getting a good result.'
