A set of six mint stamps will be issued tomorrow to pay tribute to the People's Liberation Army forces in Hong Kong. The stamps feature various aspects of the forces, which have been stationed in Hong Kong for the last seven years since the handover. One design, entitled 'The powerful and civilised military force', portrays the troops' 'code of strict discipline and their ability to uphold law and order without infringing on civilian lifestyle'. Other designs depict the naval and air forces. The stamps, which cost between $1.40 and $5, will be displayed tomorrow at the General Post Office, and at branches in Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin. First-day souvenir covers will be on sale at all post offices, for $1, on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir packages will be accepted at all post offices from tomorrow until June 15. The Hong Kong unit was ranked a 'first-class training unit' by the General Staff Headquarters of the PLA from 2000 to 2002.
