W HAT a scene of bliss ful contentment we encountered at that favoured haunt of the tai-tais and assorted glitterati - the Tiffin Lounge at the Grand Hyatt - where Cartier girl Cristal Li (or La Grande Vestale as her friends know her) is once again in residence.
Cristal, French wife of business tycoon and Jockey Club steward Alan Li, is now back in town after almost a year of non-stop travel around the world in the style of a latter-day Jules Verne - although, being Cristal, it would have been accomplished considerably more comfortably than Verne ever managed.
Sipping from a slender glass of champagne (Cristal, naturally), with friends Chantal Slim and Nancy Miller Jong (at least that's what she was calling herself yesterday) Cristal told Keeping Posted that her ''voyage of discovery'' had opened up new horizons.
''Here in Hong Kong, life is a social whirl,'' offered Cristal. ''I am invited to so many functions, and I try to go to as many as possible because I don't want to disappoint anybody.
''But when you are travelling you have a different outlook, whether sailing the Greek Islands, on safari in Africa or experiencing the vitality of Latin America.
''But the place I enjoyed most was Buenos Aires. I even arrived at one party there on horseback like Lady Godiva - although I was fully dressed, you understand. I want to go back and explore Argentina.'' To which we can only add - Don't cry for me, Hong Kong!
