An Oxford University student from Hong Kong jumped to his death because he was such a 'big thinker' he spent all his time in deep thought and could not sleep, a British coroner's inquest heard.

Andrew Pang, 23, an undergraduate at Balliol College, jumped head first from the university's eight-storey biochemistry tower after talking on his mobile phone for 45 minutes with Carmen Ip, a friend from Hong Kong.

He told her he 'can't take it any more ... and you can't talk me out of it', according to a report in The Times.

The coroner at Oxfordshire was told the Hong Kong-born biochemistry student had trouble sleeping because he spent all his time deep in thought, the British newspaper reported.

Reading from a statement made by Ms Ip, Detective Constable William Walsh told the Oxford inquest: 'Andrew told her, 'I'm on the rooftop, I can't take it any more. I'm not phoning you so you can talk me out of it. I'm only phoning you so you will not be in shock'.'

He went on to say: 'We're all going to go - what's the difference if it's in 10 or 20 years?'
