SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) has edged out Cathay Pacific Airways as the world's number one airline, according to readers of Business Traveller, with Australia's Qantas in third place.
The Regent Hong Kong leapfrogged competition to be named the favourite Asia-Pacific hotel at the Business Traveller awards ceremony in Hong Kong last night.
The Regent, picked ahead of 238 other world-class hotels in the region, had not even featured in the top 10 last year.
Other favourites were the Shangri-Las of Singapore and Bangkok, the Sheraton Towers Singapore, Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, Grand Hyatt Jakarta and Bangkok's Dusit Thani.
The Peninsula Hong Kong, which is undergoing expansion, won a sub-category for the best food and beverage in the region.
Singapore also pipped Hong Kong to the post to be voted the best destination for business trips in the world.
