Star of Adaption and The Hours, Meryl Streep (left) revealed at the Shanghai International Film Festival that she is to take a lead role in a Chinese film, according to media reports. The film, which is Dead Poets Society meets Good Will Hunting is about a Chinese professor who is taken by the genius of his students, says producer Chris Hanley, of Muse Productions in Los Angeles. He told CitySeen the main Chinese actor 'is likely to be Liu Ye of Purple Butterfly, and filming is to start in mid-July - as long as everything falls into place'. Besides securing funding, Hanley is looking to cast some English-speaking Chinese actors to play the students - possibly with the help of film producers in Hong Kong. Streep, with her husband and three daughters, attended the closing ceremony of the Shanghai International Film Festival on Sunday night.
