In a whirlwind visit to promote his debut solo album, Louis Eliot - singer-songwriter from the now defunct UK band Rialto - played an acoustic set and autographed CDs for 450 fans at the Hard Rock Cafe on Monday night. Shouting 'Louis, I love you', his admirers had come laden with gifts - including a Bottega Veneta leather bracelet. 'Strangest present I ever received was a cushion with a picture of me with a big cheesy grin on it. I didn't know what to do with it, it's not something I want to look at everyday,' he said. After the gig, Eliot and ex-Rialto bass player Julian Taylor checked out some of Hong Kong's favourite hot spots such as Dragon-i. What wasn't expected was a short foray into Hardy's in Central, where Taylor sang a few songs for the crowd and even did a duet with a fan. Eliot, however, preferred to enjoy a pint and talk to fans instead.
