Canto-pop singer and actor Deep Ng Ho-hong was granted police bail yesterday after he was arrested with 1.2 grams of a white powder police suspected to be cocaine. The 21-year-old singer was detained for five hours before being released on $5,000 bail at about 2am. He is the second actor in the TVB drama series The Academy to be arrested on a drugs charge in two months. Singer Roy Chow Wing-hang was arrested with 20 tablets of party drug Erimin-5 in April, after which he was pulled out of the show. A police spokesman said Ng was arrested for possession of a dangerous drug, and has to report back next month. A TVB spokesman said that after discussions with his record company, Music Plus, Ng would continue in his TV role. He said filming would continue but screening might be delayed. Filming has been under way for more than a month and will take another two or three months to complete. The drama is being made with the co-operation of the police, with some filming being done in the Police Training School in Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen. Chow played a police recruit before pulling out of the show. Sources said an anonymous call made several days ago led to the arrest of Ng by 10 narcotics officers near his Tsim Sha Tsui studio on Wednesday night.
