EILEEN Peck's letter, (South China Morning Post, September 27) on the frustrations of parking (and getting tickets) in Sai Kung, prompts me to appeal to the transport authorities to turn all legal street parking spaces in Sai Kung into metered spaces. There are a small number of legal parking spaces but these are permanently occupied by the same cars, vans and trucks. Some of them stay in the same spot for days. It seems to me they are used by people who live/work in Sai Kung town who don't have a permanent space and who don't buy a monthly pass at the public car park. As a result, shoppers are forced to either pay a ridiculous fee of $12/$14 an hour (double weekends) or risk getting a ticket. The only multi-storey public car park in Sai Kung has been putting up its parking fees from $6 to $8 to $10 to $12 an hour in the last 18 months. Please solve the parking problem soon by installing meters in Sai Kung. SOPHIE FIRMIN Sai Kung
