Clark Masters (right), former head of Sun Microsystems' enterprise systems group, has been named executive vice-president of the firm's newly created Global Government Office.
In this position, Mr Masters will lead Sun in addressing the technology needs of governments worldwide. As part of the move, he also assumes the position of president at Sun Microsystems Federal in the United States.
'Government sales present huge opportunities for Sun, with increased focus worldwide on security solutions, e-government projects and new compliance requirements. Sun has increasingly found success in creating turnkey, customer-specific solutions and pricing models for governments of all sizes,' he said.
A veteran in the information technology industry, Mr Masters brings more than 20 years' experience working with global public sector, intelligence community and defence organisations.
His extensive experience and strong customer relationships derive from a career that spans Floating Point Systems, Cray Research and Sun.
