POLICE believe they have broken a syndicate using container trucks to smuggle cars to China.
In an early-morning raid, officers of the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau arrested two men and recovered four luxury cars worth $6 million at the Wo Hop Shek Cemetery.
At about 2 am, officers saw six to seven people trying to load four Mercedes on to container trucks.
They arrested two men, both aged 28. A Government Flying Service helicopter assisted with the search.
Three of the cars were found to have been stolen from the waterfront, Ho Man Tin and Tai Po between September 18 and last Sunday. The other was a lefthand-drive car with a false number plate.
Detective Senior Superintendent Albert Kwok Cho-kuen said more cars were being smuggled across the land border.
