Police seized a loaded pistol at a restaurant yesterday after arresting two men with suspected triad connections.

One of the suspects was arrested at the restaurant on Mongkok Road, Mongkok. The other was among a group of three men seen acting suspiciously nearby by police and who fled when ordered to stop, abandoning two choppers in a back alley and throwing the pistol into the restaurant, where it struck a waiter in the chest.

Police detained one of the fleeing trio, a 41-year-old who was still being held for questioning last night.

The other suspect was arrested when he  went to see what was going on but ran into the pursuing officers at the door to the restaurant. The 29-year-old was also still being held for questioning last night.
