This carnivore's delight has been serving tandoori and kebabs since 1913. The manager's great-grandfather cooked in the kitchens of Mughal palaces, then taught his sons. In its four rooms opposite the Jama Masjid (Great Mosque), diners feast on tandoori raan (mutton leg), chicken burra and lamb sheek kebabs. This place offers the finest Kashmiri food in Delhi, and since its opening in 1990 has opened a branch in London's upmarket Mayfair. It houses an eclectic collection of furniture and curios - the lunch buffet is served from a 1927 vintage car. Award-winning Bukhara, in the Maurya Sheraton, is considered the best place in Delhi to savour Mughal and Northwest Frontier specialities. Masala Art The focal point of this contemporary restaurant is the long counter surrounding an open tandoori kitchen, where diners can watch the chefs at work. Another highlight is the phulka trolley, which is wheeled to every table where an expert chef cooks fresh bread on the griddle.
