Young minds don't all think alike
To explore and capture the endless possibilities of being young, a group of young designers and graduates of the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is holding a multimedia and design exhibition - Mok Fu Ching Chuen - at Videotage featuring installations, photographs and videos.
The exhibition title means to have no regrets about how to spend our youth and the artists - all in their early 20s - each have their own interpretation of what being young is like.
The installation work of 22-year-old Kris Wong On-ting features hangers and pegs with clothes and rags attached to them. The artist also displayed her grade reports and school certificates by printing pieces of them upside down on the rags and clothes.
'Nowadays, many people feel that youth is something to be showed off to people,' Wong said. 'To me it [youth] means knowing what I want to do and like to achieve ... It can be a process with no results.
'But what you have experienced and learned along the way is something that is most valuable.'
For Pun Wing-hong, a 24-year-old designer, his recent trip to Cambodia is one of his most treasured experiences. A Christian, this year he put down all his work and travelled with friends as part of a missionary group.
'I experienced different cultures and witnessed some children there who were very poor and had no dreams,' Pun said.
