Runners get just deserts

Desert, anyone?

If you're worried that running 30km through a desert is just a bit of selfish nonsense, here is your chance to make it meaningful.

Rotary International District 3450 - Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia (don't ask) - are organising four races from 10km to 30km to raise funds for PolioPlus, a global project to eradicate polio by 2005. Participants will be competing on the Silk Road, past key landmarks such as West Thousand-Buddha Caves and Mingsha Shan sand dunes.
