A new high for club hoppers

Flora Wu

With the success of Singapore-based Valuair, there's hope that Hong Kong will see more budget airlines cropping up. Club hopper Annie Chang swears Valuair has saved her social life. 'I just got so sick of Hong Kong clubs, you know? It's just the same sleazy guys over and over.'

Her solution was to hop on a $1,250 return Valuair flight bound for Singapore, and she was at Zouk Club within hours. CitySeen asked if Singapore's men were less sleazy, to which she replied, 'No, but at least they haven't tried to pick me up, like, 10 times yet.'

The discount airline offers one flight daily from Hong Kong to Singapore at 11.55am and returns the next day at 7.25am; it also flies to Bangkok, and Jakarta.

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma recently stopped in Singapore and skipped Hong Kong ... not a problem for us any more.
