Participation by Pacific Rim designers is particularly encouraging
This year's Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer - from tomorrow to Friday - will dazzle the industry.
The event, now in its 11th year, is the largest so far, with almost 760 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions - an increase of 48 per cent on last year. Overseas participation has jumped by 75 per cent.
'This is very encouraging. The global economy is on a recovery path. Hong Kong Fashion Week is the right platform for garment and fashion manufacturers to use to tap into international markets,' said Anne Chick, senior exhibitions manager of event organiser Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
She is equally confident that the boost in exhibitor numbers will be matched by good attendance by buyers.
'We had more than 12,000 buyers at the Spring/Summer show last year, which was slightly affected by the aftermath of Sars, so we are confident we will see more this year,' she said.
