Alice King, younger sister of our beloved chief executive, has been awarded the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award, which honours outstanding patrons who support arts and culture development. Her prizes included Euro15,000 to donate to an arts cause of her choice, and a specially designed solid gold Montblanc Limited Edition 'Patron of Art' fountain pen. During her acceptance speech, Ms King revealed that she would split the donation: half to the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, on whose board she sits as honorary governor, and the other half to an Aids foundation.

'My father once told me one must have a passion. Art and culture give dimension to an otherwise ordinary life,' she said during her acceptance speech, and ended by thanking Tung Chee-hwa. 'Lastly, I must thank my brother, who, out of his love for me, took time out of his hectic schedule and came all the way to the Kowloon side to attend this ceremony.' Mr Tung, who did not stay for the dinner and dance performance, nodded like a proud brother should.
