Updated at 12.08pm: A total of 481 fixed penalty tickets were issued to people who violated traffic regulations in Kowloon East - as a result of a police operation on Wednesday. A police spokesman said on Thursday 259 fixed penalty tickets and 108 summonses to motorists and pedestrians had been issued by Traffic Kowloon East officers. Another 222 fixed penalty tickets were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences on Wednesday. The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm on Wednesday. More than 200 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce traffic regulations. The officers were mainly stationed at traffic accident black spots and potential accident locations in Kowloon East, the spokesman added. A total of 517 pedestrians and 170 drivers were verbally warned by officers for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences. From January to early July this year, 2,669 traffic accidents occurred in Kowloon East.
