Guns, rockets 'for sale' on government website

A government website in Hainan has been used to advertise the sale of guns, rockets, poison and other illegal goods.

The Sanya Information Technology website, run by the Sanya city government to promote the use of information technology, has found its public message box filled with posts offering to sell the contraband.

One man left a message claiming he has Russian-made machine guns and rifles for sale. He left a mobile phone number for interested buyers.

Another man promised to deliver stun guns, fake guns and self-defence sprays at reasonable prices.

'Because of the [deteriorating] public order, I have collected many stun guns, fake guns and self-defence sprays over the years. Please contact me if you are interested,' the message said. The man also left his contact numbers.

The website also contains posts selling date-rape drugs, spy cameras and surveillance equipment.

There is no evidence that any of the items advertised on the website were actually sold.
