Police find luxury cars that were stolen abroad
Police found 15 stolen left-hand drive vehicles with a resale value of $7.5 million, including BMWs, Volvos and Mercedes-Benz, were found when officers smashed a car theft syndicate in the New Territories. Police said 13 people, 11 men and two women, were arrested during the operation, which started on July 7. The police believe the cars were stolen overseas, with at least two from Canada, and were destined to be smuggled to Vietnam.
Thieves caught after stealing drinks
Two mainlanders were arrested for stealing eight cans of soft drink yesterday after they broke into a house in Shouson Hill Road. A Filipino maid at the house saw the men, aged 19 and 24, when she was woken by a noise at 3am. The men forced her back into her room at knife-point before fleeing. They were arrested nearby.
Appeal for information after van kills boy
Police have appealed for information about a traffic accident in Aberdeen in which an 11-year-old boy was killed. He was knocked over by a van while crossing the road at the junction at Yi Nam Road at 6.15pm on Wednesday. He died in hospital later. Anyone with information about the accident should contact investigating officers on 3106 8800.
