A man who pretended to be a doctor and was hired to promote a clinic's business yesterday pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a title and practising without medical registration.
Principal Magistrate Douglas Yau Tak-hong adjourned sentencing of Wan Chung-yin, 31, until August 3, pending psychological and psychiatric reports.
Wan was remanded in custody.
North Kowloon Court was told Wan had illegally worked as a medical practitioner in the Pearl Medical Centre, Shamshuipo, in June last year.
On July 26, Wan provided a copy of a registered medical practitioner's certificate to his employer, showing that the holder could practise medicine and perform surgery until the end of last year.
Wan was dismissed in July after the Health Department confirmed that the certificate actually covered the registration of medical practitioner Chau Tung-fai.
