IRIS LAM IS A recent graduate of The Chinese University of Hong Kong who dreams of becoming a travel writer. A recent backpacking trip with friends around Europe further inspired her hopes of travelling and writing full-time. Ms Lam said it would be a great achievement if her work inspired others around the world, and she believed her sensitivity to people and places gave her writing a special quality. 'When I go travelling, I see many sides of a city, not only the superficial side. I get down deep inside and evaluate the many different aspects of its culture,' Ms Lam said. But travelling is not the only thing that has kept her busy in the past few years. She has a bachelor's degree in business and administration (marketing), and last summer she had a chance to flex her writing skills as a public relations intern at CLP Power. As project co-ordinator, one of her jobs was to help organise Powerzone, an education programme for secondary school students. She also helped to draft press releases, and liaised with the production house. 'My job was not only to co-ordinate many of the programmes, I also had some input. My project manager took into account my ideas.' Ms Lam describes herself as easygoing, talkative and humorous. She says she draws her inspiration from travel books and watching Discovery Channel. Besides writing, she dreams one day of hosting a travel programme. Potential employers can e-mail Ms Lam at firstname.lastname@example.org .
