CHINA Light & Power (CLP) has announced the appointment of Peter Shum Nai-kay as project manager of the multi-billion-dollar Black Point Power Station. As project manager for Black Point, he is responsible for the constructing and commissioning of one of the world's largest and most modern thermal power stations and Hong Kong's first natural gas generating facility. A mechanical engineer by profession, he joined CLP in 1980. GREAT Eagle Holdings Limited has appointed Dr Lo Ying-sui as a director. UNITED Parcel Service (UPS) has appointed Joyce Shih as marketing manager for North Asia Pacific, responsible for formulating and implementing region-wide marketing activities. Ms Shih brings to UPS close to 10 years' experience in marketing, research and advertising. Before joining UPS, Ms Shih was marketing manager of the electrical appliances department of A. Dransfield & Co Ltd. SIMMONS & Simmons, the London-based law firm, has appointed Jill Roberts as communications and public relations manager with effect from September 1993. Ms Roberts will be responsible for organising and co-ordinating the firm's public relations and promotional activities, as well as maintaining its client database. TIM Isaac has been promoted to senior vice president, Asia-Pacific, at Bozell. This promotion is in recognition of the regional and international business Mr Isaac has won and co-ordinated for Bozell during the past two years since he joined the agency. It also marks the increasing role that he is taking in assisting the regional chief executive officer - Brian Tucker - in the management of Bozell's regional accounts and regional network throughout the Asia-Pacific. Mr Isaac led Bozell's pitch for the Hong Kong Tourist Association account 21/2 years ago and joined the agency as international business director when the pitch was successful. Mr Isaac will continue to be based in Hong Kong, which is Bozell's Asia-Pacific headquarters. NATWEST Capital Markets continues to expand in Hong Kong, with the recent appointment of Aaron Poon to head up Hong Kong dollar Swaps Trading as assistant director. Mr Poon joined from Westpac HK, where he had been Swaps' manager. Francis Luk has also joined as assistant director, developing the marketing emphasis on derivatives and commodities in the region. He was previously with Chemical Bank of New York. ANANDA Travel Ltd has appointed Rosaline Wong as senior inbound manager, effective from August. Ms Wong has more than 20 years' experience in the field and she was the former Inbound Executive of P & O Travel. VIVIEN Pau has been appointed director of customised research with Survey Research Hong Kong (SRH). Ms Pau graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1977 with a bachelor of science degree, majoring in psychology. She joined SRH as a research executive. She went on to become marketing research manager of the Fung Ping Fan Group, and, from 1983-88, was assistant vice-president, marketing, with Citibank. THE Lippo Group in Hong Kong announced the appointed of Gordon Chen Ah-kum, as executive assistant to the chairman of Lippo Ltd and executive director of Hong Kong China Ltd. Mr Chen has many years' experience at senior management levels. Before joining the Lippo Group, he was president, North Asia, of Proudfoot Plc, one of the largest international consulting groups providing services from quality management, productivity management and strategy planning to organisational development. He also spent more than three years with the Hay Management Group as a senior consultant. Mr Chen has a bachelor of engineering in electronics and communications and holds a master's degree in business administration from the Asian Institute of Management. THE board of directors of Ryoden (Holdings) Ltd (RHL) has appointed David Hsu as an executive director of RHL as well as finance director of all its major subsidiaries, including the publicly listed Ryoden Development Ltd. Mr Hsu's main responsibilities include overseeing the company's financial and investment strategies and participating in its corporate developments. Before joining the Ryoden group, Mr Hsu was a director of Wardley Corporate Finance Ltd. He has more than 16 years' experience in corporate finance and investment activities. OSHKOSH B'Gosh has appointed Michael Lewis as managing director of OshKosh B'Gosh (Asia/Pacific) Ltd. Before this, Mr Lewis had developed the brand to market leadership status in his previous position as managing director of the Sydney-based Genuine Article Clothing Company, which holds the OshKosh licences in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. PETER Mark Hammond has been appointed the new general sales and marketing manager for Waterford Wedgwood in Hong Kong. Mr Hammond was educated at Denstone College in England and previously worked for De Ster BV as regional sales director (Asia).
