Just as Mini Me is the diminutive doppelganger of Dr Evil in the Austin Powers spy comedy movies, the Micro Mini USB 2.0 Drive is the tiny new version of Iomega's Mini Compact Flash drive released earlier.

The thumb-sized Micro Mini, weighing about nine grams, is the smallest portable storage device from Iomega to feature high-speed Universal Serial Bus 2.0 interface technology.

That means a user can transfer files at a speed of up to eight megabits per second, which allows for faster sharing or storing of presentations, photos, graphics, music, video clips, or a student's homework.

The Micro Mini comes in 128, 256 and 512-megabyte capacities for convenient storage on the go. Like the previous Iomega Mini USB 2.0 Drive, it operates without cables, adaptors or power supply.

Users can simply plug the drive into a computer's USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port for instant access to their files. There are no software drivers to install. The Micro Mini's plug-and-play design makes it compatible with Windows, Macintosh and Linux.

Targeted at the youth market, the Micro Mini package includes three snap-on caps in three different colours, a keychain, neck chain and an illuminating USB cable.

But more than appearance, it is the software that makes Micro Mini a winner. When the drive is plugged into any compatible personal computer, the Iomega website (www.iomega-activedisk.com) is launched automatically to provide a one-time installation of the Active Disk driver.
