SIN Wing-hang took full advantage when Ngai Hing teammate Hui Chak-bor suffered two punctures, scoring a runaway victory in the Pak Tam Chung Race, the opening event of the Hong Kong season, at Sai Kung yesterday.

Sin, who returned from a mainland training stint five days ago, was never challenged after Hui suffered his first puncture early on.

The 77-kilometre event, rescheduled after being a victim of Typhoon Dot the previous Sunday, attracted a class field with the only Hong Kong team member absent being Chan Lung, committed to a relay team in the Puma International Sprint Triathlon.

''It may have looked easy but the fact that Hui had two punctures helped,'' said 24-year-old Sin.

Sin won in two hours, four minutes and 32.23 seconds, with Cheng Kwok-chiu second, four minutes and 40 seconds behind. Man Wai-chung was third in 2:09:28.93.
