ACTION-PACKED DRAMA Chung Ying Theatre will present Kung Fu Clan, a wacky, high-kicking drama about the spirit behind martial arts. Directed by Indy Lee and written by Elton Lau, the play is about a village school known as Kung Fu Clan, which was established by a martial arts master. All the teachers and students at the school are unbeatable. A few kung fu fanatics seek out the master to hone their skills. But soon they realise that there is more to martial arts than winning or losing. The play will be performed in Cantonese from Friday to Sunday at Sha Tin Town Hall and from August 13 to 15 at Hong Kong Cultural Centre. EPIC PERFORMANCE Evacuation Order, a large-scale dance drama performed by the Hong Kong Dance Company, revolves around a family in Sha Tin during the 17th century when the Manchus were forcing all seaside villagers to move inland. The story is set in the transitional period from the Ming to Qing dynasty. Lee Ning-dei dies giving birth to daughter Yuen-on. Her husband, Yuen Sei-do, as a member of the militia, is forced to help Qing soldiers evacuate the villagers. He kills a solder by mistake and flees for his life. He becomes a mountain bandit but is killed by peasants after returning to the village to visit Yuen-on many years later. The performance will be staged on Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Sunday at 3pm, at the Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium.
